Red Room EP

Red Room -Demo EP

Indie/Alternative Rock/Pop

The four track Demo-EP from the Taunton 4 piece Red Room is worth a listen. Red Room (I'm not sure if that's a reference to Fifty Shades or Twin Peaks) is a solid unit who sound like they have been playing for a long time but they are a bunch of whipper snappers , so they have put the hours in of hard work and it shows.

The guitar work is nothing short of arse-kicking (given the lead guitarist is in the sublime The Happy-Sads is no surprise.Has he sold his soul to the Devil at the Crossroads ? ), a solid rhythm section and the breathy lead vocals sound like an asthmatic Paolo Nutini , which I am sure the ladies in particular will love and have grown on me.

Wild is a catchy tune that everyone can join in with, Gruelish has a little bit more menace and some filthy dirty guitar, the lyrics are my cuppa tea (I do love a cuppa). Friends In High Places is more dreamy and then steps up a gear then down again leading up to a crescendo. 'Rules Breed the Rebels' starts off like a Black Sabbath number with a hint of Rage Against The Machine and it keeps a taste of that despite simultaneously being an indie tune, I'm not sure quite how this track works but it does and it rock's hard, my favourite of the lot 'I just say what's on my mind' .

All good tracks , good lyrics and hooks , these guys will only get better and it's scary! I saw Red Room live and I suggest you bust out your wallet, let the moths fly, buy this demo then go see these guys play because they are even better live.
